ABAC LAKESIDE GROUNDBREAKING OCTOBER 23

TIFTON—The groundbreaking for ABAC Lakeside, Abraham Baldwin College’s  new freshman housing complex on the north shore of Lake Baldwin, will be held on Oct. 23 at 11 a.m.

Ambling University Development Group, the developer for the project, recently began moving in construction trailers.  The fence around the driving range is being taken down, and a new construction fence surrounding the entire project will go up shortly.

ABAC Foundation President Melvin Merrill said the driving range will be closed to make way for the new housing.  A driving range is available at nearby Forest Lakes Golf Club, which is owned by the ABAC Foundation and operated by the college.  He said the Rowan Pavilion will also be closed but will reopen when the project is completed.

The $16.9 million apartment complex will house 489 students.  Rooms will be split between double occupancy and single occupancy.  The suites include a bathroom and kitchenette with a refrigerator, sink, and microwave.
