TIFTON--Fourteen individuals at Abraham Baldwin College recently received Pacesetter Awards from the campus newspaper’s editorial board and staff. A Superior Pacesetter Award was also presented to Penny Chesnut, ABAC’s Baptist Student Union Advisor and Orientation Coordinator.

The college’s award-winning student newspaper, The Stallion, extends Pacesetter recognition annually to those who have worked for ABAC through their actions and exemplary service. Pacesetters are chosen from the student body, the administration, the faculty, and the staff.

This year’s Pacesetter Award recipients included Bertha Daniel, Director of Human Resources; Stefane Hightower, accounting clerk for Enrollment Services; Jewrell Rivers, instructor of sociology; Darby Sewell, instructor of family and consumer sciences; Dr. Earl Bennett, professor of mathematics; Dr. Doug Waid, associate professor of Wildlife and Forestry; Wayne Jones, associate professor of choral music and director of the Arts Connection; Brenda Sellars, ABAC’s Library Director; and Troy Spicer, assistant professor of nursing.

Student Pacesetter award recipients included Bianca Murphy, a human services major from Stockbridge, who serves as Vice President of MASDA; Kaedy Cawthon, an early education major from Jackson, who is President of the ABAC Ambassadors and the recipient of the J. G. Woodroof Scholar Award; Tim Harris, a biology major from Tifton who is an active member in the Baptist Student Union, a math tutor on campus, and is the pitcher for the ABAC Stallions; and Winnie Moore, a physical education major from Alapaha, who plays for the ABAC Fillies.
