SEVENTEEN GRADUATE FROM 206th ABAC POLICE ACADEMY

TIFTON—Seventeen individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 206th Session of the South Georgia Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.

Academy Director Ray Saxon said that William D. Graham of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received the award for Overall Achievement.  Graham also received first place in Academic Achievement, and Marcus R. Sales of the Albany Police Department earned second place.

First place in Firearms went to Andre’ Thompson of the Albany Police Department. Thompson also served as president of the 206th session. Second place in Firearms went to Eric M. Scott of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.

Other graduates included Santana S. Broner of the Dawson Police Department; Keegan C. Faulkner from Nicholls, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy; Robert A. Griffin of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office; Kevin L. Gullion of the Pelham Police Department; and Shannon N. Minchew of the Homerville Police Department.

Other graduates of the Academy were Rusty L. Parten of the Worth County Sheriff’s Office; Grady J. Rachel, Jr. of the Albany Police Department; Eric M. Scott and James R. Smith of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office; Robert R. Singley of the Americus Police Department; Michael D. Slusher from Ambrose, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy; Richard L. Wigland of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office; Michael C. Williams from Douglas, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy, and Carlton Williford, Jr. from Waycross,  sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy.

The South Georgia Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
