TWENTY-THREE GRADUATE FROM 205th ABAC POLICE ACADEMY

TIFTON—Twenty-three individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 205th Session of the South Georgia Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.

Academy Director Ray Saxon said that James A. Lide of the Valdosta Police Department received the award for Overall Achievement.  Lide also tied for first place in Academic Achievement with Mack K. Doss of the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.

Carl H. Dudley of the Valdosta Police Department received second place in academics. Dudley also served as president of the 205th session and received first place in Firearms. Second place in Firearms went to Jeffrey D. Hawley of the Valdosta Police Department.

Other graduates included Anthony L. Mims of the Bainbridge Police Department; Martelle D. Davis and Christopher W. Dickerson of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office; Melanie L. Wood of the Donaldsonville Police Department; Willie H. Fletcher of the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office; and Theia C. Moore of the Early County Sheriff’s Office.

Other graduates of the academy were Raymond C. Meeks of the Hahira Police Department; James R. Stull of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office; Amanda G. Giddens and William C. Woolridge, Jr. of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office; Jason A. Barber of the Tift County Sheriff’s Office; Christopher D. Spires of the Tifton Police Department; Davind D. Burks, John D. Chamberlain, Trey D. Griffin, Brittany Harris, Joel C. Hurley, and Brett M. Williams of the Valdosta Police Department; and Adam A. Lawson of the Valdosta State University Police Department.

The South Georgia Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
