OPEN CAMPUS DAY AT ABAC FEBRUARY 23

TIFTON—Fifty-seven different programs of study will be on display at the annual Winter Open Campus Day on Feb. 23 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. in Gressette Gym for prospective students who can visit information tables focusing on majors ranging from nursing to golf clubhouse management.    Personnel from admissions, housing, and financial aid will be on hand to answer questions from students and their parents.  Student clubs from all over campus will also have displays in the gym to get to know the future ABAC students.

“We meet with high school seniors throughout the year,” said Ali Kilby, Coordinator of Student Recruitment.  “But on this day, everything is devoted to showcasing our programs for the benefit of these visitors.”

The ABAC Ambassadors will give walking tours and bus tours of the 421-acre campus including a visit to the deer pen and wildlife area.  Visiting students can make their own souvenir key chain and also get a free lunch in the Donaldson Dining Hall.

Live musical entertainment will be furnished by the ABAC Jazz Choir, and an art exhibit will be open in the Music Building.

For students who plan to live on campus, one of the highlights of the day will be a tour of the $32 million apartment complex called ABAC Place.  Over 800 ABAC students live at ABAC Place, which features a private room for every student in four-bedroom, two-bath apartments.

One of the visiting seniors will receive a $500 tuition grant to ABAC at a 12:45 p.m. drawing in the Donaldson Dining Hall.  At 1 p.m., the visitors can sit down with faculty members in their various areas to discuss possible majors and careers.

For more information about Open Campus Day, prospective students can call 1-800-733-3653 or visit the ABAC web site at www.abac.edu.
