VALDOSTA STATE FACULTY TO PERFORM AT ABAC APRIL 12

TIFTON— The First Tuesday Performance Series at Abraham Baldwin College on April 12 will feature Valdosta State University faculty.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in ABAC’s Chapel of All Faiths. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. The performance will consist of a variety of musical selections ranging from classical pieces to Broadway tunes.

Those performing for this event are Doug Farwell, trombone; Donovan Stokes, bass; David Morris, percussion; Paul Campiglia, percussion; David Johnson, bass-baritone; and Susan Johnson, piano.

Farwell has been part of the VSU faculty for the past 10 years. He is an Associate Professor and the current Assistant Dean of the College of the Arts.

Stokes is the newest member of the VSU faculty. He teaches bass and assists with the South Georgia String Project. He is principal bass of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and Central Florida Orchestra, a member of the Valdosta Chamber Players, and a part of the VSU Faculty Jazz Combo.

Morris has been with the VSU Music Department sine 1985. He serves as Head of the Department of Music and Assistant Dean of the College of the Arts. He is principal timpanist with the Columbus, Macon, Valdosta, and Central Florida Symphony Orchestras.

Campiglia has been with VSU since 1994, teaching private percussion instruction and in the classroom. He is the ensemble director for the VSU Steel Band and Jazz Combo. He serves as principal percussionist for the Valdosta, Albany, and Central Florida Symphony Orchestras.

David Johnson serves as Director of Choral Activates and vocal instructor for VSU. He is a featured soloist with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Atlanta, Macon, and Albany Orchestras.

Susan Johnson is the rehearsal accompanist for the Valdosta Symphony Chorus and serves as the Chancel Choir accompanist at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Valdosta. She is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at ABAC.

This concert will be the last of this year’s series. The First Tuesday Concert Series will resume in September.
