FIRST TUESDAY SERIES BEGINS SEPTEMBER 6

Tifton-- The first concert of the semester in the First Tuesday Performance Series at Abraham Baldwin College will take place Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths.

            Individual tickets for the performance may be purchased at the door. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. ABAC students are admitted free with ID. Patrons of the Arts and Entertainment Series can also attend at no charge.

This is the third year that in conjunction with each First Tuesday performance an art exhibit will be in the Music Building adjacent to the Chapel. It will feature paintings, drawings, and two-dimensional designs by ABAC students. The exhibit will be open for viewing before and after the concert.

Don Coates, Director of Bands, will perform the first movement from Haydn’s Concerto for Trumpet in E Flat and Clarinet Marmalade by Shields and Ragas, accompanied by Gina Lawhon, a local piano and organ instructor.

Wayne P. Jones, Director of the ABAC Arts Connection, will perform two songs from Two Songs for Children, Beau Soir, and Oh! Quand je dors, also accompanied by Lawhon.

Eugene Wyles, Director of Concert Bands at ABAC, will present of Scherzo in c minor by Paul Koepke for clarinet and It Is Well With My Soul by Bliss for alto saxophone, accompanied by Gail Wyles on the piano.

Dr. Susan Roe, assistant professor of voice, will present Faites-lui mes avieux from Faust by Charles Gounod and Ave Maria by J.S. Bach, accompanied by Lawhon.
