AN ODE TO BROADWAY ON JANUARY 11 AT ABAC

TIFTON— The First Tuesday Performance Series at Abraham Baldwin College on Jan. 11 will feature music from such Broadway artists as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cole Porter.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in ABAC’s Chapel of All Faiths. The fee for this performance is $3 for adults and $1 for students. Guest performers for this event are Susan Spivey; piano, Wayne Jones; bass-baritone, Brian Marchant; baritone, Dr. Susan Kirby Roe; soprano, Scott Spivey; tenor, Blane Jacobs; baritone, Marlene Bowen Thornton; mezzo-soprano, and Vann Thornton; piano.

The performance will begin with A Wonderful Day Like Today from “The Roar of the Greasepaint” performed by Jones followed by Marchant singing Mr. Mistoffelees from “Cats”. Next, All I Ask of You will be performed from “The Phantom of the Opera” by Roe.

Lilly’s Eyes from “The Secret Garden” will be sung by Scott Spivey and Jacobs. Next, Tom Wolf’s Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most from “The Nervous Set” will be performed by Bowen-Thornton and Vann Thornton.

 

 

 

The final selections for this concert will be I’ve Got You Under My Skin, a Cole Porter classic, from “Born to Dance” and Richard Rogers’ My Funny Valentine from the show “Babes In Arms”. Each piece will be performed by Vann Thornton.
