BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT HURRICANE EVACUEES

 

TIFTON – The First Annual Three-On-Three basketball tournament, titled “Hoopin’ to Fight the Hurricane”, is being held on Sept. 24 at Gressette and Thrash Gyms on the campus of Abraham Baldwin College. All proceeds will benefit Hurricane Katrina evacuees.

The tournament format is double elimination. Each game will be played to 24 points with baskets counting as two and three points. Prizes for first and second place will be awarded at the end of the tournament.

There are five categories in which participants can play. The Ladies Division will play at 9 a.m., followed by the High School Division (18 and under) at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., the College (Intermediate) Division will take to the courts, and the Pro (Advanced) Division will play at noon. The last division, playing at 1 p.m., is the Couch Potato (over 30) Division. Each division must have a minimum of four teams.

The cost per team to participate in this event is $45. All teams are encouraged to pre-register. Space is limited. Check-in time is an hour prior to the division’s start time.
