SCHOLARSHIPS WORTH $101,322 AWARDED TO ABAC STUDENTS

TIFTON—Sixty-seven scholarships totaling $101,322 were awarded to Abraham Baldwin College students during the recent Honors Day ceremony. The awards, provided through the ABAC Foundation, were based on a number of criteria such as leadership ability, character, academic excellence, and financial need.

The $1,000 ABAC Ag Alumni Scholarships were awarded to Katelyn S. Crow, an agriculture leadership major from Lake City, Fla., and LeeAnne T. Auldridge, an animal science major from Odum. A $500 ABAC Ag Alumni Scholarship was awarded to Lindsay G. Godfrey, a livestock health major from Comer. Godfrey also received the $500 Robert L. Miles Scholarship.  

The Prince Automotive Group Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 went to Gregory B. Hill, a biology major from Tifton. Andrew J. Wicks, a foreign language/business major from England, received a $1,000 President’s Choice Scholarship. Other recipients of the President’s Choice Scholarships were Jesus Cerezo-Garcia, a computer science major from Gainesville; Rachel F. Gibbs, a psychology major from Tifton; Daniel C. Shippey, a journalism major from Tifton; and Jessica D. Bryan, a biology major from Chula.

Allan & Lelia J. Garden Scholarships in the amount of $2,250 went to Daniel A. Alamo, a computer science major from Fitzgerald, and Esteban J. Alamo, a business administration major from Fitzgerald. Allan & Lelia J. Garden Scholarships in the amount of $1,700 were awarded to William R. Pierce, a secondary education major from Ocilla; Beau B. Leyse, a nursing major from Fitzgerald; Alton W. Stegall, a family & consumer sciences major from Fitzgerald; and Benjamin M. Jacobs, a liberal arts major from Fitzgerald.

Allan & Lelia J. Garden Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 were awarded to Dondreal S. Manley, a nursing major from Fitzgerald; Gail H. Trull, a nursing major from Fitzgerald; Walter C. Stone, a nursing major from Fitzgerald; Angela H. Young, a nursing major from Ocilla; Susan M. Harper, a nursing major from Fitzgerald; Lorrie G. Gonzalez-Rubio, a pre-nursing program major from Fitzgerald; and Lisa P. Allison, a nursing major from Ocilla. The $1,200 Allan & Lelia Garden Scholarships were awarded to LaShonna W. King, a sports medicine major from Fitzgerald, and Amanda J. Griffin, a nursing major from Fitzgerald.

The J. Fielding Reed/Georgia Plant Food Educational Society Scholarship for $1,500 was awarded to Robert J. Evans, an agriscience major from Tallahassee, Fla.  A Larry W. (Buck) Wheeler Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 went to Ellis Washington, III, a political science major from Tifton. Adam G. Brannen, a nursing major from Lee, Fla., received a $1,300 J. H. Dorminy Nursing Scholarship. Summer D. Janca, an interior design major from Thomson, received a $1,000 George Conger Scholarship.

 Two ABAC Alumni Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each were awarded to Whitney S. Lightfoot, an allied health major from Tifton, and Alana N. McCurdy, an early childhood education major from Tifton. A $1,000 Larry D. Allen Agricultural Leadership Scholarship was awarded to Douglas L. Henthorn, an agriculture engineering major from Sparks. Jessica A. Daniel, an animal science major from Dawsonville, received a $1,000 Dr. Mike Bader Memorial Scholarship. Kelly J. Senkbeil, a nursing major from Sylvester, was awarded a $500 John Henry Dorminy Scholarship. A $1,000 Eason Agricultural Studies Scholarship was awarded to Tarsa M. Andres, an agriculture major from Grovetown. Andres also received a $300 Brightwell Horticulture Scholarship

A $1,000 Georgia Forestry Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Geoffrey B. Kudela, a forestry/wildlife technology major from MoultrieStephanie S. Withrow, a nursing major from Moultrie, received a $1,000 Shirley C. Hutchinson Memorial Scholarship.  Two James and Joyce Kirk Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each were awarded to William J. Montford, Jr., an agriculture major from Glenwood, and Michael J. Maw, an agriculture major from Enigma. Megan M. McGahan, an early childhood education major from Swainsboro, received a Tift County Council on Child Abuse Scholarship worth $500.

The E.P. & Iliene Bowen, Jr. Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $400 was awarded to Spring E. McMillan, an early childhood education major from Lenox. Jessi N. McMillan, a family & consumer sciences major from Chula, received a $500 Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship.  William H. Ray, an environmental horticulture technology major from Valdosta, received the $500 Southeastern Turfgrass Conference Scholarship. Ray also was awarded the E. Ray Jensen Turfgrass Scholarship for $750.  Two $500 Baldwin Women’s Club Scholarships were presented to Carol B. Mathis, an information technology major from Moultrie, and Adrian J. Rivers, a music major from Tifton.

Jessica F. Teel, a psychology major from Tifton, received the $500 Doris Garrison Nelson Memorial Scholarship. The Langdale Company Forestry Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 went to Corey D. Davis, a forest technology major from Tifton. A $450 Britt Memorial Scholarship was received by Ruben Jacobo-Rubio, a physical education major from Dalton. Barbara DeCastro, a business administration major from Barranquilla, Colombia received the Donald and Betty Jones Business Scholarship of $1,500.  Zackary N. Hardy, a wildlife technology major from Cartersville, received the Ethel H. Slatter Memorial Scholarship for $250 and the Vernon Yow Forestry Scholarship for $900.

The B.L. Southwell Scholarship in the amount of $400 was awarded to Tania P. Zavala, a family & consumer sciences major from Cedartown. Elizabeth A. Davis, an animal science major from Hinesville, received the Daren Brownlow Memorial Scholarship of $1,500. The $1,500 J.E. & Annie Lou Connor Forestry Scholarship went to Daniel S. Sollenberger, a wildlife technology major from Hampton.

Jesse A. Bolton, an agriscience & environmental systems major from Dawson, received the B.H. & Lanell Claxton Scholarship of $1,000. The $450 J. Baldwin Davis Scholarship was received by Michael A. Moretz, a political science/pre-law major from Tifton. Maleria D. Brown, a journalism major from Sycamore, was awarded the $500 W. Bruce & Rosalyn Ray Donaldson Journalism Scholarship. The Georgia Vegetable Company Scholarship of $1,500 went to Elizabeth A. Chesnut, a history major from Chula.

The $500 Jean B. Stoufer Nursing Scholarship was presented to Jessica L. Lupo, a nursing major from Enigma. Brandi S. Selph, a pharmacy major from Tifton, received the $450 Agnes Davis Donaldson Scholarship, and the Lanier Carson/Kelly Manufacturing Company Scholarship of $750 was awarded to Samantha M. Peek, an undecided major from Tifton. The $300 Viola Carswell Nursing Scholarship was presented to Jessica O. Allison, a nursing major from Tifton.

Two Affinity Health Group Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each were awarded to Kayla M. Lumpkin, a medicine major from Ashburn, and Austin N. Barber, a pre-medicine major from Tifton.
