ABAC’S ART WORKS SHOWCASED AT THE BOARD OF REGENTS

TIFTON—Current and past Abraham Baldwin College art students have works being displayed at the offices of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia in Atlanta until Jan. 7.

“One of the regents was interested in displaying art in the boardroom of the building,” said Donna Hatcher, assistant professor and director of the art program at ABAC. “With the help of people at ABAC and Atlanta, numerous works of art were taken up on Sept. 23 to be showcased.” Hatcher also serves on the Arts Advisory Committee to the Board of Regents.

“The idea for this showcase is advocacy,” Hatcher said. “With the decline in funding for arts-related programs at colleges and institutions in Georgia, this is a way to show the Board of Regents what is being done in these fields and to help regain support for the arts programs in colleges.”

Approximately 33 students and Hatcher are displaying 38 works of art in mediums such as digital photography, watercolors, and oils from traditional to modern styles.
