CIRCLE K HOLDS 5K RACE TO STOP ABUSE

TIFTON- The Circle K Club at Abraham Baldwin College and the Tift County Child Abuse Council will conduct their second annual No Excuse for Abuse race at ABAC on April 12.

This event is a 5K and one mile Fun Run to help promote Child Abuse Awareness Month. In 2004, 578 cases of abuse were reported in Tift County. Because of this, Circle K will also put out pinwheels representing all of these cases.

Public Health Educator Gaylan Baxter of the Tift Teen Health Center will also be a part of the event to speak on self image and relationship abuse.

ABAC’s Baptist Student Union will be on hand after the race to provide refreshments to participants. A medal ceremony will follow the race. Medals will be presented to the top three males and females in each age group for the 5K run.

To register, interested persons can visit the website at www.abac.edu/attach/circlek.htm to print out the entry form. For more information, please contact Cathy Rogers, advisor of Circle K at (229) 391- 4968.  The race will begin on the west side of the tennis courts.
