ALL ROOMS FULL AT ABAC PLACE APARTMENTS

TIFTON—For the second year in a row, all 835 private bedrooms are filled at the $32 million ABAC Place apartment complex at Abraham Baldwin College.

Student Life and Housing Director Bernice Hughes said a waiting list has been established, and almost 200 names are on that list.

“As soon as a room becomes available at ABAC Place, we will move them off the waiting list into an apartment,” Hughes said.  “We have already provided a list of apartments in town to a lot of students, and if anyone has an apartment to rent, we’d like to know about it.”

Hughes said those persons who have a place to rent can call the ABAC Housing Office at (229) 391-5140.

A limited number of dormitory rooms are being used at ABAC’s Comer Hall for overflow space.  Hughes said as soon as a room becomes available at ABAC Place, the student will move from Comer to the apartment complex.

ABAC Interim President Tom Call said the case for additional housing at the college becomes stronger every day.

“This will be our second fall semester with the apartments, and we’ve had a waiting list both years,” Call said.  “We have already made some preliminary plans as to the location of another site for housing on the campus.”

Classes begin Aug. 22 for the ABAC fall term.
