FIRST TUESDAY SERIES PERFORMANCE APRIL 6

Tifton-- The final concert of the semester in the First Tuesday Performance Series at Abraham Baldwin College will take place April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths.

            Individual tickets for the performance may be purchased at the door. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. ABAC students are admitted free with ID. Patrons of the Arts and Entertainment Series can also attend at no charge. For additional information contact Dr. Susan Roe, program director of the First Tuesday Series, at (229) 386-3097.

The concert, titled “A Night of Ensemble Music,” will feature performances by the ABAC Brass Quintet, the ABAC Clarinet Choir, the ABAC Saxophone Quartet, the ABAC Jazz Choir, and a woodwind trio that features two of ABAC’S adjunct music instructors, students and featured soloists.

            The ABAC Brass Quintet, organized and directed by Donald B. Coates, Chairman of the Music Program at ABAC, includes Coates, trumpet; Jordan Brock, trumpet; Don Wauchope, French horn; Brandon Van Hall, trombone; and Michael Kitchens, tuba.

The ABAC Clarinet Choir, organized by Eugene Wyles, Director of Bands at ABAC, includes Wyles, Leigh Ann Farmer, Alicia Griffin, Sabrina Oliver, and Robert Grabowski.

            Members of the ABAC Saxophone Quartet, also organized by Wyles, include Wyles, Nguyen Ly, Evan Zebley, and David Durden.

            The ABAC Jazz Choir directed by Wayne Jones, Director of Choral Music at ABAC as well as Director of the Arts Connection, includes Katie Brinkley, Josh Calhoun, Brian Chandler, Derrick Dove, Michele Grice, Ashley Harris, Quentin Hall, Rachel Jones, Nguyen Ly, Ashley May, Charles McCormick, Alana Pearce, Justin Pitts, Deena Roberts, and Katina Robinson.

            As part of the Arts and Entertainment Series sponsored by the ABAC Arts Connection, regional professional artists are featured on the first Tuesday of every month in the Chapel of All Faiths on the ABAC campus. 

Coates is a graduate of Central Florida Community College where he received his A.A. degree in 1971 and of Brigham Young University where he received his B.M.E in 1973, specializing in secondary and post-secondary music education. After completing his Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University in 1974, Coates joined the ABAC faculty. 

After serving 31 successful years as band director at Worth County High School, Wyles joined the faculty of ABAC as Director of Bands.  He earned his BFA from the University of Florida, Master’s of Music Education from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, and is also a graduate of the United States Naval School of Music in Washington, D.C. 

Jones received his Bachelor of Music Degree in vocal performance from Shorter College and a M.M. degree in vocal performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Jones has been a member of the ABAC faculty since 1989. 

Wyles Grabowski earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Columbus College, and a Master’s in the Science of Education from Troy State University. She is in her 18th year of teaching band and general music, and is employed by the Tift County School System.  She is also an adjunct professor of applied woodwinds at ABAC. 

                Holton is currently Director of Choral Music for Worth County Middle School in Sylvester.  She earned her Associate of Arts Degree in Music from Abraham Baldwin. She also earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education and a Master of Music Education degree from Valdosta State University. 

Robert A. Grabowski, a native of Abilene, Texas, is currently the webmaster and substitute musician for the Mannheim Trio.  Professionally, he is the owner of Technologist, Inc., a computer services and sales company in Tifton.
