A NIGHT OF CLASSICS ON NOVEMBER 2 AT ABAC

TIFTON— The First Tuesday Performance Series at Abraham Baldwin College on Nov. 2 will feature “A Night of Classics” from Chopin and Handel.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. The fee for this performance is $3 for adults and $1 for students. Guest performers for this event are David Bradshaw; guitarist, F. Scott Kroll; clarinet, Susan Spivey; piano, and Lucy Hudson Stembridge; vocalist. A one-person art show by Meredith Phillips, recent recipient of the Marian Jones Girtman Scholarship, will follow the performance.

The performance will begin with Elegie in E-flat minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Waltz in D-flat Major, Op. 64, No. 1 with Spivey as the featured pianist. Next, Stembridge and accompanist Gina Lawhon will perform Rejoice Greatly from Handel’s “Messiah”, C’est L’Extase by Debussy and Ain’t it Good from “Children of Eden”.

Clarinet Sonata No. 2 by Carl Vollrath will be played by Kroll with Lawhon as accompanist. The final pieces will be played by feature guitarist Bradshaw. He will perform A Ravel by Arnaud Dumond and Sonata by Federico Moreno Torroba.
