ABAC SELECTS 18 NEW HONORS STUDENTS
Tifton—Eighteen students
have been selected for membership in the Honors Program at
“Students with SAT scores of 1100 or better are invited to join. They take a special year-long freshman honors seminar and choose four to six honors core curriculum classes.”
Vassiliou said students submit a personal essay to supplement the application. He said the goal of the ABAC Honors Program is to provide a more meaningful college career for academically talented students and to prepare them to undertake junior and senior level work.
New Honors Program students are Daniel Alamo, a computer science major from Fitzgerald; Maleria Brown, a journalism major from Ashburn; Benjamin Brubaker, a pre-vet major from Comer; Katelyn Crow, an agriculture major from Lake City, Fla; and Mallory Gibbs, a pre-dentistry major from Ashburn;
Other new members are Jessica Henson, a pre-vet major from Rabun Gap; William Lobb, an agriculture major from Atlanta; Stephanie Nichols, a biology major from Nashville; Jade Olds, a pre-vet major from Cordele; Ernesto Ortiz Ariza, a political science major from Tifton; Pedro Perez, an engineering major from Moultrie; Jared Ross, a business administration major from Tifton; Joshua Salter, an undeclared major from Tifton; Joshua Seehorn, a wildlife biology major from Rabun Gap; David Sivas, a forestry major from Thomson; Amanda Smith, a nursing major from Panama City, Fla.; Jessica Teel, a pre-dentistry major from Tifton; and Rachael Yaw, a fashion merchandising major from Lacenter, Wash.
Students already at ABAC can join the Honors Program if they have a 3.2 GPA. Honors students automatically qualify for membership in the Honors Club, which became active this year.
