DILLARD SELECTED AS INTERIM VP

TIFTON--Dr. Gail Dillard from Moultrie has been selected as the Interim Vice President of Student and Enrollment Services at Abraham Baldwin College. She replaces Tom Call in the position while he serves as Interim President at ABAC.

Dillard, who has been an ABAC faculty member since 1990, is also a professor of English in ABAC’s Division of Humanities. During her tenure, she has served as the honors program director and the coordinator of faculty development. She is currently serving as Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs for the college.

Dillard holds a Ph.D. in English from Florida State University, an M.A. degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a B.A. degree in English from Georgia College at Milledgeville (currently Georgia College & State University).

The appointment was a surprise for Dillard. “I was in California when I checked my messages, and there was one from Tom Call,” Dillard said. “I called him, and he asked if I’d like the position. It was completely out of the blue.

“I see this as an opportunity to expand on what I’ve been doing with the Evening and Off-Campus Program. The key word is ‘engagement.’ Students have to feel like they’re a part of the community. You can’t separate academics and student support. Our student services area does a great job, and I want to help them to continue doing so.”

Call and Dillard plan to return to their positions when a new president is selected for the college.
