ABAC OPENS CLASSROOMS JULY
20 IN SYLVESTER
TIFTON- In a
continuing effort to reach students in their hometowns, Abraham
Baldwin College
opens new classrooms in Sylvester July 20 which will feature regular college
credit classes as well as continuing education classes.
An open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony will
be held on July 20 at 4 p.m. in the Worth
County Governmental
Building. It is open to anyone who would like to
attend. Tours of the facility will be
given, refreshments will be served, and speakers will include ABAC President Mike
Vollmer, Worth County Commission Chair Dan Miller, and Bill
Boone, Executive Director of the Worth County Development Authority, who
initiated the contact between Worth County and ABAC.
Worth County
Commissioners renovated a wing in
the governmental building to be used for ABAC classes. There are two
classrooms, an office, and space for a computer server.
Dr. Gail
Dillard, Director of ABAC’s Evening and Off-Campus Programs,
said, “We want to expand the program as much as possible. We hope to have a
computer lab in the future, as well as offer a bigger selection of classes.”
Classes currently
slated for fall include an English 1101 class available on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 5 – 6:15 p.m., and six
Continuing Education classes running from September to November. An information
session will be held from 6 – 7 p.m.
on Aug. 3 in the new classrooms.
