ABAC FILLIES OPENED HOME SCHEDULE FEBRUARY 13

The defending state champion Fillies of Abraham Baldwin College played their first home women’s tennis match of the season on Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. against Gordon College at the ABAC Tennis Center.

Coach Alton Hudgins’ team opened its season with a 5 – 4 win over Florida Community College Jacksonville (FCCJ). The Fillies will play Middle Georgia College in Cochran on Feb. 20.

Hudgins said he is excited about the upcoming season.

“The players are hard working, have great attitudes, and are fun to coach,” Hudgins said. “We have strong competition among our nine players. The sophomores have experience, and the freshmen have talent. The ABAC women’s tennis team has won the NJCAA Region 17 Championship for the past nine years. We will rely on the experience of our sophomores and the talent the freshmen bring into the program. We want to go to the national tournament for the tenth year in a row.”
