UNIVERSITY SYSTEM APPROVES PROMOTIONS FOR ABAC FACULTY

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia recently approved the promotions of 11 faculty members at Abraham Baldwin College effective Aug. 1, 2003.

Julie Conner, Dr. Paul Foote, Susan Johnson, and Lori Pearman were promoted to the rank of assistant professor from instructor. Eric Cash, Geoff Clement, Dr. Renata Elad, Anthony Fitzgerald, Dr. John Galyean, and Dr. Sukanya (Su) Senapati were promoted to the rank of associate professor from assistant professor. Dr. Gail Dillard was promoted to the rank of professor from associate professor.

            Conner, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 2000, teaches in the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. She received a B.S. degree and an M.S. degree, both in  Health and Physical Education, from Georgia College and State University. Conner is also the women’s basketball coach.        

Foote, who began teaching in the Division of Social Science in 2000, earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgia State University, his M.A. degree from Villanova University, and his B.A. degree from West Chester University.

Johnson, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 2000, teaches in the Division of Social Science. She holds an M.S. degree in Clinical Psychology and Counseling from Valdosta State University and a B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia.

Pearman received her M.Ed. in Mathematics Education and her B.S. degree in Mathematics, both from the University of Georgia, and her A.S. degree in Mathematics from ABAC. A member of the Division of Science and Mathematics, Pearman has taught at ABAC since 1999.

Cash has taught in the Division of Humanities since 1999. He holds an Ed.S. degree in Adult

and Higher Education Writing Program Administration and an M.A. in English, both from Morehead State University, an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Mississippi, and a B.A. in Anthropology/English from Eastern Kentucky University.

            Clement, who has been an ABAC faculty member since 1995, teaches in the Division of Science and Mathematics. He earned his M.Ed. in Math Education from Georgia State University and his B.S. in Mathematics from Emory University.              

Elad holds a Ph.D. in Ag Economics and an M.S. degree in Ag Economics, both from the University of Georgia, and a B.S. degree in Agronomy from the University of Jos, Nigeria. She has taught in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources since 1999.

            Fitzgerald, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 1999, teaches in the Division of Social Science. He received an M.P.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Jacksonville State University,  a B.S. degree in Liberal Arts/Psychology and an A.S. degree in Liberal Arts/Criminal Justice, both from Regents College/University of NY.

Galyean, who began teaching in the Division of Humanities in 1998, earned his Ph.D. and his M.A. degree in Drama/Theatre Arts from Bowling Green State University.

Senapati, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 1999, teaches in the Division of Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of South Florida, an M.A. degree in English from the University of West Florida, and an M.A. degree in English/American Literature and a B.A. degree in English/History, both from Utkal University.

Dillard received her Ph.D. in English from Florida State University, her M.A. degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and her B.A. degree in English from Georgia College. A member of the Division of Humanities, Dillard has taught at ABAC since 1990. She serves as the Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs.
