OPEN CAMPUS DAY AT ABAC ON NOVEMBER 8

Visitors to the annual Fall Open Campus Day at Abraham Baldwin College on Nov. 8 will have a chance to visit the new ABAC Place apartments.  Admissions Director Angie Palmer said the visitation day is open to any person who is thinking about attending ABAC during the spring term which begins on Jan. 12, 2004, the summer term or the fall term of 2004.

“It is a great opportunity to see the campus, particularly for those people who may want to live in the new ABAC Place apartments,” Palmer said.  “I am encouraging more and more of our students to apply early.”

The event will take place in the Cordell Conference Room of the Carlton Center beginning with registration and academic displays from 10-11:15 a.m.  Campus walking tours will be offered by the ABAC Ambassadors from 10-11 a.m., and a tour of the first ABAC Place Apartment will take place at 10:15 a.m.

Ambassadors will also lead a campus driving tour which includes the J.G. Woodroof Farm.  ABAC President Mike Vollmer will host an info session from 11:15-11:45 a.m., followed by a question and answer time.

An optional tour of the ABAC Place apartments or a campus driving tour which includes the farm will be held at noon.

ABAC Place is a $32 million project which will include 835 new rooms for ABAC students.  Most of the units will be fully furnished four-bedroom, two-bath apartments including a full kitchen and living area.  Each student will have an individual room complete with double bed. internet access, phone line and cable TV access.  A total of 200 students from Chandler Hall will move into the apartments in January.  The other 635 units will be available in August, 2004.
