ABAC HOMECOMING 2003 ON APRIL 4 - 5

Alumni from across Georgia and the surrounding states will return to the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on April 4 - 5 for Homecoming 2003. The theme for this year’s event is “ABAC: Building for the Future.” The event will focus on new buildings, the new Pedestrian Mall, and new programs planned for the future.

A special candlelight memorial service will pay tribute to deceased alumni on April 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. Individuals will be given the opportunity to light a candle in memory of anyone associated with ABAC—a former classmate, family member, faculty or staff member, or friend. An added feature this year will be the opportunity to light a candle in honor of the men and women serving in the Armed Forces.

The Homecoming Dinner and Dance will begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 4 in the Donaldson Dining Hall. The dance, which begins at 8:30 p.m., will feature the music of the Jim Newton Band. The dinner and dance are open to alumni and anyone who would like to attend at a cost of $20 per person. With the theme, “An Evening in Savannah,” the dinner is sure to be a culinary delight.

The keynote speaker for the Forum on Agriculture will be Dr. David Bridges, Assistant Dean, University of Georgia Tifton Campus. He will discuss the new four-year degree programs developed through a partnership with ABAC and UGA. The forum is sponsored by the Ag Alumni Council and will begin at 10:30 a.m. on April 5 in the Cordell Conference Room of the Carlton Center.

Eight Alumni Awards will be presented at the Awards Luncheon on April 5 at noon in the Donaldson Dining Hall. The Young Alumni Cookout will take place at noon at the Rowan Pavilion at Lake Baldwin. This event is hosted by the Ag Division.

Members of the Class of 1953 will be presented their Golden Alumni bronze medallions as they are honored during the Golden Alumni luncheon at noon on April 4.
