ABAC OFFERS TRIP TO THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS

Anyone planning a vacation during the summer of 2003 may be interested in the “Splendors of the Hawaiian Islands” trip offered by Abraham Baldwin College’s Public Service and Business Outreach Center.

The trip is open to anyone who would like to attend. A $145 deposit reserves a place. The deadline for submitting an application and paying the deposit is March 7.

The 10-day visit to the Big Island (Hawaii), Oahu, and Maui is a tour package designed by EF Explore America. Projected dates of the trip are June 5 – 14. SDU credit is available. The total cost of the trip is approximately $2,795. The fee is based on double occupancy and Atlanta departure.

During their stay, members of the travel group will visit several famous places and landmarks, including Honolulu, the capital and largest city in Hawaii, where they will visit Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, the statue of King Kamehameha, the State Capitol Building, the Punchbowl Cemetery, and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Visitors will then fly to Maui, the second-largest island in Hawaii and its most popular vacation spot, where they will visit Kamaole Beach and Mt. Halcakala. After seeing the sites on Maui, the group will fly to the Big Island (Hawaii), the largest of the inhabited Hawaiian islands which is famous for its active volcanoes and black sand beaches. On the Big Island, tourists will visit Akaka Falls and Volcano National Park.

Katrina Williams, Assistant Director of ABAC’s Public Service and Business Outreach Center and coordinator of the trip, said it has been her childhood dream to visit Hawaii.

“We have included everything imaginable in this tour,” Williams said. “Tourists will leave Hawaii knowing that they have really seen the island state. We have also included plenty of free time so that individuals can explore the islands on their own.”

The price for the trip covers round-trip air transportation, nine nights’ accommodations in selected three and four star hotels, the full-time services of a

professional, multi-lingual tour director, all on-tour transportation services, breakfast and dinner daily, guided city sightseeing tours, walking tours as per itinerary, and taxes.

For more information about the trip, contact Williams at (229) 386-3267, or e-mail her at kwilliam@abac.edu. Other ABAC trips have included visits to Greece and the Greek Islands; London, Paris, and the Alps; Italy; and England and Ireland. Last summer, ABAC sponsored a trip to England, Ireland and Scotland.
