The First Tuesday Performance Series will begin its second season on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at Abraham Baldwin College. As part of the Arts and Entertainment Series, sponsored by the Abraham Baldwin Arts Connection, regional professional artists will be featured on the first Tuesday of every month in the Chapel of All Faiths on the ABAC campus. The concerts, which last one hour, are designed to be light, entertaining, and informative.

The Sept. 2 concert will be free to the public. Individual tickets for future First Tuesday Performance Series concerts may be purchased at the door. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. ABAC students are admitted free with ID.

The first concert in the series will feature the music faculty of ABAC, including Don Coates, trumpet; Eugene H. Wyles, clarinet; Wayne P. Jones, bass-baritone; Dr. Susan Kirby Roe, soprano; and Sheri Wyles Grabowski, flute. Accompanists will include Gail Wyles and Gina Lawhon.

Coates, Chairman of ABAC’s Music Department, has been a member of the faculty since the fall of 1974. Eugene Wyles joined the ABAC faculty as the Director of Bands after serving for 31 years as the band director at Worth County High School. Jones, Director of the Abraham Baldwin Arts Connection and Director of Choral Music at ABAC, has been a faculty member since 1989. Roe is First Tuesday Program Coordinator and an assistant professor of voice at ABAC. Grabowski is an adjunct instructor of applied woodwinds at ABAC.

This year, in conjunction with each First Tuesday Performance Series concert, there will be an art exhibit in the Music Building, adjacent to the Chapel of all Faiths. The exhibit will feature paintings, drawings, and two-dimensional designs by ABAC art students. This month, Donna Hatcher, assistant professor of art, will feature works by her students: A.W. Stegall of Fitzgerald, Jason Hurst of Baxley, and Skylar Harwell of Hampton. The exhibit will be open for viewing before and after the concert.

The cost for season tickets for the Arts and Entertainment Series performances is $50 per person for adults and $15 for students 18 years old and under. This cost includes all six events in the Arts and Entertainment Series as well as the seven First Tuesday Performance Series events.
