Phyllis Bennett has been named Director of Learning Support at Abraham Baldwin College, effective immediately. She has served in that position on an interim basis since December 2001.

Bennett, who has been at ABAC since 1994, holds an M.Ed. degree in Business Education and a B.S.Ed. degree in Business Education, both from the University of Georgia. She also received an associate degree from ABAC. Prior to accepting the position of Director of Learning Support on an interim basis, Bennett served as ABAC’s Director of Advising and Academic Assistance.

Bennett said she is looking forward to enhancing the services of the Office of Learning

Support to help students realize the importance of persistence, motivation, and commitment to success in college.

“The Office of Learning Support has a strong commitment to promoting a learning environment for our students through our various programs, including the Academic Assistance Center (AAC) and Academic Intervention Management (AIM),” Bennett said. “It is not uncommon for students to have a weak area. Learning Support classes help those students prepare for college-level classes. It is great to see students build the self confidence and determination they need to continue on to college courses.”

Tom Call, ABAC’s Vice President of Student and Enrollment Services, said “Phyllis has served admirably in this position on an interim basis since December 2001, and I’m certain she will continue to do a great job monitoring ABAC’s Learning Support Program.”
