ADULT
COLLEGE ENTRY
INFORMATION MEETINGS DECEMBER 1, 2, 4 IN TIFTON, SYLVESTER, & NASHVILLE
TIFTON--Anyone who is considering beginning or
re-entering college may benefit from the Adult College Entry (ACE): Where Do I Begin? Information Meetings offered
by Abraham Baldwin
College.
A meeting will be
held in Tifton on Dec. 1 from 6 – 7 p.m.
in Room 4 in King Hall on the ABAC campus. Another meeting will be held in
Sylvester on Dec. 2 from 6 – 7 p.m.
at the Worth County/Sylvester Chamber of Commerce. A third meeting will be held
in Nashville on Dec. 4 from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Berrien Chamber of Commerce
in Nashville. There is no charge to
attend.
The meetings are
designed to provide the information adult students will need to get started on
their college careers. The Adult College Entry (ACE) Seminar, which provides a
system of support services that prepares adults for college entry and success,
will be discussed. In the seminar, ABAC faculty and staff members will teach
students how to apply for admission and financial aid and how to prepare for
placement testing. Career and transfer programs available at ABAC will also be
discussed.
“In
the ACE Seminar, students will be with other adults who are also just starting
college,” Dr. Gail Dillard, ABAC’s Director of
Evening and Off-Campus Programs, said. “They will learn valuable skills to help
them succeed in college, including note taking, time management, and various
study skills in a program tailored to their personal needs and goals.”
An ACE Seminar is
scheduled to begin Jan. 20 on ABAC’s Tifton campus. The seminar will meet 11
Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
through March 30 in Room 202 of the Baldwin Library. Since class size is
limited to 15 students, students should register early. The cost is $49 and
includes the following: a $20 application fee if the student decides to apply
to ABAC, a textbook, and waiver of ABAC 1000—Freshman Seminar as a graduation
requirement upon successful completion of the ACE Seminar and enrollment at
ABAC.
Regular spring
semester classes begin Jan. 12 at ABAC. For additional information about the
ACE Seminar or the information meetings, contact Dillard at (229) 386-7154, or
e-mail her at gdillard@abac.edu.
