ABAC DEVELOPS VISION STATEMENT FOR NEW YEAR

Abraham Baldwin College will start 2002 with a new vision statement designed to enhance the quality of educational opportunities. ABAC President Mike Vollmer said the vision statement was developed at a planning retreat this fall. Six strategic initiatives support the statement, and the entire campus community is now working on new ideas to put these initiatives into practice.

Vollmer said the strategic initiatives will help guide ABAC for the next several years.

"Our efforts will center on providing quality learning experiences, facilities, and programs for our students," Vollmer said. "In addition, will we focus on working with the Tifton community on initiatives that will provide employment opportunities in our region for ABAC graduates."

The new ABAC vision statement is as follows: "Building upon a rich tradition, our institution is a diverse learning community, inspiring excellence in our teaching and learning, developing strong educational and economic partnerships, and serving as a global gateway for our students."

Strategic initiatives include the following: to create an integrated, diverse learning environment that promotes the highest levels of student success; to further develop programs that foster a sense of community among faculty, staff, and students; to aggressively pursue public/private and community partnerships to expand learning opportunities, locally and globally; to collaborate with four-year institutions to expand degree opportunities; to restore and construct physical facilities that foster student learning and greater community involvement; and to infuse technology into student learning, teaching, and support services.
