SCHOLARSHIPS WORTH $49, 525 AWARDED

TO ABAC STUDENTS

          Fifty-eight scholarships totaling $49,525 were awarded to Abraham Baldwin College students during Wednesday's Honors Day ceremony. The awards, provided through the ABAC Foundation, were based on a number of criteria such as leadership ability, character, academic excellence, and financial need.

          A $1,500 Donald and Betty Jones Business Scholarship was awarded to Molly D. Snow, a marketing major from Tifton. A Daren Brownlow Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 went to Candice Noelle Clark, an animal science major from Rochelle. A Hubbard Farms Poultry Science Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 was awarded to Todd Howard Reece, a poultry science major from Ellijay. John Andrew Burnham, a landscaping management major from Moultrie, received a $1,500 J. Fielding Reed/Georgia Plant Food Educational Society Scholarship. An E. Ray Jensen Turfgrass Scholarship for $1,500 went to Travis Alan Smith, a golf turf management major from Tifton.

          A $1,300 J. H. Dorminy Nursing Scholarship was awarded to Mecca Alane McIntyre, a nursing major from Fitzgerald. Simon Earnest Batchelor, a forestry major from Camilla, received a $1,000 Connor Forestry Scholarship. A Charles Kemp, Jr. Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 went to Amanda Kay Richards, a music major from Tifton. Two ABAC Alumni Scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to Jill Nicole Williams, a business administration major from Tifton, and Matthew Quentin Waldrop, an education major from Tifton.

          Two ABAC Agriculture Alumni Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each went to Charles Andrew Brinn, an agriculture engineering major from Moore Haven, Fla., and Robert Lee McDaniel, Jr., an agriculture education major from Blue Ridge. Daryle Dwaine Tucker, a business major from Conyers, received a $1,750 J. H. Davis First Community Bank Scholarship.

          A $1,000 Larry D. Allen Agriculture Leadership Scholarship was awarded to Stacey M. Jones, an agriculture education major from Folkston. Austin Brett Tucker, an agricultural engineering major from Ocilla, received an Eason Agricultural Studies Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Joel McKie, an agri-business major from Abbeville, was awarded the $2,000 Harold and Rowena Loyd FFA Leadership Scholarship. A John Henry Dorminy Scholarship for $1,000 went to Heather Ann Hewett, a pre-pharmacy major from Ty Ty.

          Allen and Lelia Garden Scholarships were awarded to the following students from Ben Hill County: Stephanie Jo Bullock, a nursing major; Sabrina Renee Lewis McGhee, a human services major; Elizabeth Michelle Stone, a nursing major; Jake Alan Martin, a journalism major; Jacob Adam Cobb, an engineering major; and John Douglas Giddens, a forestry major. Recipients from Irwin County included Mary Michelle Lanier, a sociology major; Larry Antoni Jay, a computer engineering major; Jean Elizabeth Melton Green, a nursing major; Crystal Ebony Sneed, a biology major; Lakevius Seaunnie Robinson, a sports medicine and psychology major; and Monica Denise Reid Wynn, a criminal justice major. Lisbeth Rich Gordon, a nursing major, and Melinda Lee Willard, a business administration major, both from Wilcox County, also received Garden scholarships. The Garden Scholarships were of various amounts, ranging from $800 to $1,300.

          A Vernon Yow Forestry Scholarship in the amount of $850 was awarded to Riley Reeves Singleton, a forest resources major from Conyers. Carolyn Cummings Dennard, a nursing major from Tifton, received an $875 Shirley C. Hutchinson Memorial Scholarship. A Vera Conger Smith Scholarship in the amount of $750 went to Anna Rebecca Samples, a recreation major from Tifton. Philippa Ruth Mpunzwana, a fashion merchandising major from Zimbabwe, received a $750 Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship. A $600 B. L. Southwell Scholarship was awarded to Carrie Lynn Ross, an animal science major from Tifton.

          An E. P. and Iliene Bowen, Jr. Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $600 went to Robert Jared Evans, a livestock health major from Tallahassee, Fla. Anna Brooks Haire, a liberal arts major from Sylvester, received a Clarence Robert Lang Scholarship in the amount of $600. A $550 Eastman Scholarship was awarded to Andrew Travis Luke, a pre-pharmacy major from Fitzgerald. Two Josephine Cloudman Scholarships in the amount of $550 each went to Pamela Anne Smith, a history major from Omega, and Christina Brooke Taylor, an early childhood education major from Nashville.

          Brandi Michelle Oliver, a business major from Tifton, received a $600 Zell and Shirley Miller Scholarship. A Marshall Guill Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Ray Dwayne Lundy, an agricultural equipment technology and wildlife technology major from Monticello. A $550 Jesse and Dolly Chambliss Scholarship went to Christopher Thomas Stripling of Ocilla, whose major is agricultural engineering. Joey Joel Welsh, an agricultural engineering major from Tifton was awarded an L. M. Veasey Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $350. A $350 J. Baldwin Davis Scholarship was awarded to Hailey Nicole McGlamry, a business education major from Pitts.

          Lisa Jane Owens, a business administration major from North Wales, received a $450 Frederick W. Kinard Scholarship. An S. L. Lewis Scholarship in the amount of $350 went to Robert Lee Powell, Jr., a chemistry major from Norman Park. Amy L. Carr, a nursing major from Tifton, received an Agnes Davis Donaldson Scholarship worth $450. A $250 John W. Strickland Scholarship went to Catherine Jolene Satterfield, whose major is agriculture education. A Beckham Nursing Scholarship and a Janice Payne/Baldwin Woman's Club Scholarship for $450 was awarded to Hillary Denise Hamby, an allied health major from Ocilla.

          William Matthew Reems, an agriculture major from Homer, received a Carlton Smith Scholarship in the amount of $350. A $300 Robert L. Miles Scholarship was awarded to Nicholas M. Cacciola of Conyers, whose major is pre-veterinary medicine. John William Rodman, a journalism major from Tifton, received a Warren Bruce Donaldson Journalism Scholarship in the amount of $375. A Larry W. (Buck) Wheeler Scholarship in the amount of $425 went to Shellie Ann Story, a nursing major from Sycamore.
