Dr. Bobbie Robinson, a professor of English, has been selected as the Chair of the Division of Humanities at Abraham Baldwin College. She had served as interim chair since July 1, 2001.
Robinson received her Ph.D. (English) from Baylor University and an M.A. degree (History), an M.A. degree (English), and a B.A. degree (English) from Valdosta State College. She has been a member of the ABAC faculty since 1992. Robinson was also a faculty member from 1976 - 1979.
Robinson said she is pleased the division faculty members were supportive of her becoming chair of the Humanities area.
"We've worked hard this year to support each other and our programs," Robinson said. "I think we are moving in a positive direction, and apparently, my colleagues do as well. I am delighted to work with the fine faculty in the Humanities Division. We have a wealth of talent on the faculty, and I am proud of what they do every day."
Robinson said ABAC's Division of Humanities has big plans for the future.
"We have made a commitment to showcase the programs of the division as much as possible," she said. "Infusing technology into course delivery is an ongoing project. We are working closely with Dr. Chrystle Ross to bring all of our classrooms to the highest level of technology proficiency so that faculty have Internet connections at every teaching station and the essential multi-media equipment for delivery of images. Faculty are beginning to work toward a semi-paperless classroom. They are creating web pages and using Web CT to post course guides, syllabi, and handouts, as well as hold on-line discussions."
ABAC President Mike Vollmer said Robinson's appointment becomes effective immediately.
