MIDNIGHT MANIA CELEBRATION SEPTEMBER 30 AT ABAC

As part of the Midnight Mania celebration at Abraham Baldwin College, basketball coaches Robert Moore and Julie Conner and the Office of Student Life and Housing are sponsoring the third annual faculty/staff versus students basketball game on Sept. 30 at 10:30 p.m. in Gressette Gym. Spectators will also get their first look at this year’s ABAC basketball teams.

Any ABAC faculty or staff member is welcome to play in the game. Any ABAC student, except members of the Fillies’ and Stallions’ squads, is welcome to play on the student team. Anyone interested in playing should contact Bernice Hughes, Director of Student Life and Housing, at (229) 386-3233.

The evening will also include contests, prizes, give-a-ways, and refreshments as well as performances by the Sabor Latino Dancers and the Spirit Team. The ABAC Ambassadors will also be on hand for Half Court for $100.

At 12:01a.m., the 2002 - 03 Stallions and Fillies will be introduced. The teams will engage in intra-squad scrimmages for 15 minutes each. Oct. 1 is the first day official practice is allowed.

“This basketball game is a wonderful event,” Conner said. “It’s a great opportunity for the students to see the faculty and staff in a different light, and everyone has a lot of fun.”

Moore said the game is an excellent way to show support for the men’s and women’s basketball programs at ABAC.

“It’s great to bring the faculty, staff, and students together,” Moore said. “The students get a chance to see the faculty and staff members in a setting other than the classroom or school offices. An event like this is great for ABAC.”
