ABAC MUSICAL GROUPS TO PERFORM

AT INAUGURAL RECEPTION

          The Brass Quintet and the Dixieland Band from Abraham Baldwin College will perform at the inaugural reception for University System of Georgia Chancellor and Mrs. Thomas Meredith on June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta.

          The ABAC Brass Quintet will play classical and jazz selections as well as rags and marches. The ABAC Dixieland Band will play traditional New Orleans Dixieland music.

          Members of the Brass Quintet include Don Coates, Chair of the Music Program at ABAC and Director of ABAC's Jazz Band; Jamason Odom, an agriculture major from Fitzgerald; Don Wauchope, a research chemist for the Agriculture Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture; Thomas Peacock, a music major from Athens; and Jason Carr, a biology major from Tifton.

          Members of the Dixieland Band include Coates; Eugene Wyles, Director of ABAC's Concert Band; Woody Leonard, Band Director at Tift County High School; Gail Wyles of Sylvester, Peacock; and Jake Hill, a music major from Quitman.

          Meredith will be inaugurated as the 10th chancellor in the history of the University System of Georgia on June 12 at 2 p.m. in the House of Representatives Chamber at the Georgia State Capitol. A reception will follow in the Capitol Rotunda at 3:30 p.m.
