Donaldson served as president of ABAC from 1947 - 61. This was the first time the award was presented at ABAC's fall graduation ceremony. In the past, it has been presented only at the spring ceremony.
Moore, a journalism major, completed his studies at ABAC with a 3.67 grade point average. He currently attends the State University of West Georgia where he is working toward a degree in mass communications. Moore's future plans include earning his master's and doctorate degrees in mass communications from the University of Georgia. Then, after working in the field for a number of years, he plans to return to the classroom as a teacher.
A total of 114 students participated in Saturday's ceremony, which was presided over by ABAC President Mike Vollmer. Rebecca Paul, President/Chief Executive Officer of the Georgia Lottery Corporation, served as guest speaker.
Moore was sports editor and later editor-in-chief of The Stallion, ABAC's award winning student newspaper. He served one year as vice president of the Georgia College Press Association and is currently president of that organization. Moore has also won several awards for his newspaper writing.
While attending ABAC, Moore played in the concert and jazz bands. He was president of Team H.E.L.P., which worked with Santa's Helpers to give Christmas gifts to needy children. Moore was also a member of the ABAC Ambassadors and was selected for Who's Who at ABAC. Moore is the son of Michael and Debra Moore of Tifton.
Shayla Kisling, an agriculture education major from Douglas, was the finalist for the Donaldson award.
