ABAC EVENT RAISES SCHOLARSHIP DOLLARS

          Supporters of the annual Dollars for Scholars Benefit Banquet and Show at Abraham Baldwin College have helped thousands of students over the years by contributing more than $620,000 to student scholarship funds. All proceeds from the event go directly to students in the form of scholarships.

          The tradition continues this year with the 31st annual Dollars for Scholars show on May 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall. The featured performer is country music superstar Lorrie Morgan. The event is sponsored by the ABAC Foundation.

          Tickets to Dollars for Scholars are $125 each. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible. For ticket information, call the ABAC Foundation at (229) 386-3265. All tickets must be purchased in advance.

          Betty McCorvey, Assistant Director of Development at ABAC, said ticket sales are going great.

          "We have received an excellent response and continue to do so," McCorvey said. "We have sold over half the house already. Morgan is a well-known name in country music, and she has a lot of fans who are willing to travel to see her perform. In fact, one gentleman from Maryville, Tenn., paid for his ticket with a personal check with a picture of Morgan on it. Morgan's appeal is great, and she is drawing a lot of people to the event."

          The Dollars for Scholars banquet, which is prepared by Chef and Food Services Director B. J. Smith and her ARAMARK staff, has received praise for its excellence. The menu for this year's event promises to be as appetizing as ever.
