UNIVERSITY SYSTEM PROMOTES EIGHT

ABAC FACULTY MEMBERS

          The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia recently approved the promotions of eight faculty members at Abraham Baldwin College effective fall semester 2001.

          JoAnn Brannen, Gary Dicks, Sheila Hughes, Steve Janousek, and Melanie Robertson were promoted to the rank of assistant professor from instructor. Kristen Lawson, Dr. John Settimi, and Andrea Willis were promoted to the rank of associate professor from assistant professor.

          Brannen, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 1998, teaches in the Division of Business Administration. She received an M.Ed. in Business Education and a B.S. Ed. in Business Education from Valdosta State University, and an A.S. Ed. in Business Education from ABAC.

          Dicks, who began teaching in the Division of Science and Mathematics in 1998, earned his M.Ed. in Mathematics Education from Albany State College, and his B.S. degree in Mathematics from Auburn University.

          Hughes, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 1998, teaches in the Division of Humanities. She earned an M.A. in Speech Communication and a B.A. from San Diego State University, and an A.A. from Saddleback College. She is ABAC's Director of Forensics.

          Janousek holds an M.Ed. and a B.S. degree from Georgia College and an A.S. degree from Middle Georgia College. A member of the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, Janousek has taught at ABAC since 1997.

          Robertson has been with the Division of Science and Mathematics since 1998. She earned her M.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of West Florida and her B.S. degree in Mathematics from Radford University.

          Lawson, who has been an ABAC faculty member since 1997, teaches in the Division of Humanities. She earned her M.Ed. in Adult Education and Vocational Education from Georgia Southern University and her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Georgia.

          Settimi earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, his M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin--Madison, and his B.S. degree from Colorado State University--Fort Collins. He has taught in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources since 1996.

          Willis, who has been with the ABAC faculty since 1974, earned her M.S.T. in Health and Physical Education and her B.S. Ed. in Health and Physical Education from Georgia Southern College, and an A.S. degree in Health and Physical Education from Brunswick Junior College. She is the interim division chair and teaches in ABAC's Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.
