SEVEN CANDIDATES TO INTERVIEW

FOR PRESIDENT AT ABAC

Seven candidates will interview for the position of president at Abraham Baldwin College beginning March 6. Dr. Chrystle Ross, chair of the Presidential Search and Advisory Committee (PSAC), said each interview will be one day in length.

The seven candidates and their interview dates are Randy Pierce, Provost, Lawrenceville Campus, Georgia Perimeter College, on March 6; Thomas Rookey, Director, Dublin Campus, Middle Georgia College, on March 7; Richard Federinko, President, Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, Ala., on March 8; Thomas Eaves, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, North Florida Community College, on March 12; Michael Vollmer, Executive Director, Georgia Office of Education Accountability, on March 13; Linda Hall, Vice President for University Advancement, Fort Valley State University, on March 14; and Carol Dougan, Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, Jackson State Community College, Jackson, Tenn., on March 15.

Ross said members of the community are invited to attend a continental breakfast in the Magnolia Room of the Donaldson Dining Hall at ABAC from 7:30-8:30 a.m. during the interviews. Community members are also invited to attend a 2:15-3:15 p.m. reception and a 3:15-4 p.m. forum, also in the dining hall.

"We want to invite the community and any interested persons out to the campus to talk with these candidates," Ross said. "We want as much input as possible in the selection process."

During the day-long interviews, the candidates will also meet with Interim President Homer Day and the President's Cabinet, attend a luncheon with ABAC student leaders, visit a classroom on campus, and take a look at the campus and community through a walking and driving tour.

Ross said her committee will narrow the list down to five names to be forwarded to University System of Georgia Chancellor Stephen Portch and Regent John Hunt of Tifton, who chairs the special Regents' Committee to select the president of the college. Dr. Harold Loyd retired as the ABAC President on July 31, 2000.
