ABAC TIPS OFF BASKETBALL SEASON NOVEMBER 3

The Abraham Baldwin College Golden Stallions' basketball team tips off this year's season at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 at home against Enterprise State.

Coach Robert Moore, who became the men's basketball coach last year, said he feels a little more polished and experienced in his second season.

"Coaching last season was a great learning experience for me," Moore said. "I now have more confidence in my abilities as a coach and in my players."

Moore said the team is a talented group of players. He said the sophomores will be very instrumental in providing leadership for the freshmen. Sophomores Corey Johnson of Ocilla, Eric Williams of Greenville, S.C., Rashad Williams of St. Petersburg, Fla., BJ Wright of Ft. Valley, Carl Harrell of Columbus, and Orenn Fells of Atlanta are all being recruited to continue their careers at senior colleges and universities.

"We face some tough competition this season," Moore said. "Our schedule is very tough with teams like Enterprise State, FCCJ, and Santa Fe. But this works to our advantage because I can get a feel for what kind of team we have and prepare for the rest of the season when we face tough teams like Georgia Perimeter, Atlanta Metro, and Coastal Georgia. Our goal is always the same--to win the conference tournament and make it to the nationals."

Moore said he hopes the faculty, staff, and students, and community will show support for the team.

"We have an exciting style of basketball," he said. "The players are working hard in class and on the court. I think we'll have a fun season."
