ABAC WELCOMES NEW FACULTY AND STAFF

          The start of the fall semester brought several new faces on to the roster of faculty and staff at Abraham Baldwin College. In addition to the newcomers, several ABAC faculty and staff members changed positions within the college.

          The Division of Humanities welcomed Wendy Harrison, Dr. Leilani Hall, Diane Jackson, and Donna Hatcher.

          Harrison, Temporary Full-Time Instructor of English, recently moved to Tifton from Clayton, N.C. She received an M.Ed. degree in English from Georgia Southwestern State University and a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia.

          Hall, Temporary Full-Time Instructor of English, came to ABAC from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she just received her Ph.D. in Creative Writing. She holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in English/Creative Writing from Ohio University.

          Jackson, who has previously taught at ABAC, returns this year as Temporary Full-Time Instructor of Reading. She holds an M.Ed. degree in Elementary Education from Valdosta State University and a B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education from Wesleyan College.

          Hatcher, who served as Temporary Full-Time Instructor of Art last year, returns this year as Assistant Professor of Art. Hatcher received an MFA degree in Art, with a concentration in painting, from Cornell University and a BFA degree in Sculpture and Art History from the University of Georgia.

          Marvin E. Holtz has joined the faculty in the Division of Science and Mathematics.

          Holtz, Assistant Professor of Biology, holds a Ph.D. in Science Education from Florida State University, an M.S. degree in Biology from Niagara University, and a B.A. degree in Biology from Lyon College.

          The Division of Social Science has added Jewrell Rivers to its faculty.

          Rivers, Instructor of Sociology, received his M.S. degree in Sociology and his B.S. degree in Psychology from Valdosta State University. He has completed course work for a doctorate in Family Relations at Florida State University and is currently working on his dissertation.

          Chloe McLemore has joined the staff of the ABAC Regional Police Academy as the Senior Secretary. She received a Secretarial Certificate from ABAC and a diploma in Accounting from East Central Technical Institute.

          Sherry Knighten is the new Human Resources Assistant. She received her associate's degree from John C. Calhoun Community College in Huntsville, Ala., and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from Troy State University by distance learning.

          Lindi Adams has joined the Office of Institutional Research and Planning as the part-time secretary. She is a graduate of Westover High School in Albany.

          Stephanie Coney is a new Baldwin Library Assistant. She is a graduate of ABAC's business information technology program.

          Traci Bryan has joined the Admissions Office as a part-time recruiter. She is a graduate of Tiftarea Academy and obtained her BBA in Finance from Valdosta State University. She also works part-time in the Public Service and Business Outreach Center.

          Position changes at ABAC effective fall semester include the following:

          Herb Hendrix is the new Director of Recreational Sports. He previously served as Instructor in ABAC's Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.

          Alton Hudgins, former Intramural Director, is the new women's tennis coach.

          Joyce Willis will serve as Admissions Specialist for the Admissions Office. She previously served as Senior Secretary for Alumni Relations.

          Carolyn Black is the new Property Manager in the Procurement Office. Black was the Senior Secretary in the Educational Outreach and Youth Connection Office prior to accepting her new position.

          Kay Powell is the new Director of ABAC on the Square in Moultrie. She previously served in this position on a part-time basis.

          Bertha Daniel is the new Director of College Services. She previously served as Associate Professor in ABAC's Division of Social Science.         

          Dr. Bobbie Robinson is the new Interim Chair for ABAC's Division of Humanities. She received her Ph.D. in English from Baylor University and an M.A. degree in History, an M.A. degree in English, and a B.A. degree in English from Valdosta State College.

          Signe Kastberg has returned from educational leave and will resume her duties as Associate Professor of Mathematics.

          Abul Sheikh, has also returned from educational leave and will resume his duties as Assistant Professor in the Division of Business Administration.
