ABAC Coach Steve Janousek said he is looking forward to the season and feels confident about the team's performance.
"We have an experienced nucleus coming back this season," he said. "The sophomores provide excellent leadership, and we have some very talented freshmen on the team. One of the team's greatest strengths is its strong work ethic. I am very impressed with the players' work habits."
The team is almost evenly divided between sophomores (10) and freshmen (14). According to Janousek, key players include sophomore first baseman Nathan Barnes of Adel, short stop Jay Berryman of Athens, and pitchers Jon Howard of Macon and David Covey of Gray.
Janousek believes the team will be quite competitive in the conference.
"We have a strong schedule, and that will prepare us for the conference schedule," he said. "With our work habits and attitude, I believe we will play very well. Our goal is to attempt to win the conference."
The Stallions' first home game is on Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. against Thomas University.
