SEVENTEEN GRADUATE FROM ABAC POLICE ACADEMY

          Seventeen individuals from the south Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 174th session of the Regional Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.

          Academy Director Tim Dorminey announced that Thomas Altman of the Moultrie Police Department received the Overall Achievement Award for the 174th session. He also earned theAcademic Achievement Award. Andrew Cheek of the Albany Police Department won second place for academics. The first place award for Firearms was awarded to Tommy Hobbs of the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office. Gregory Long of the Americus Police Department received the second place award for firearms and served as President of the class.

          Dr. Bettie Horne, ABAC's Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, served as guest speaker at the graduation ceremony.

          Other graduates included Shirley Adams of the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office; Leslie Bankston and Ronald Grant of the Sumter County Sheriff's Office; Shawn Bell, Ruth Holloway, and Jerry Walters of the Albany Police Department; Jason Duffey and Joseph Robertson of the Moultrie Police Department; Anthony Palumbo of the Early County Sheriff's Office; Travis Sparks of the Valdosta Police Department; Debra Fountain of the McRae Police Department; Richard Sapp of the Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office; and Kulisha Washington of the Ware County Sheriff's Office.

          The Regional Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
