Academy Director Tim Dorminey announced that Greg Dotson of the Decatur County Sheriff's Office received the Overall Achievement Award for the 168th session. Dotson also earned the Academic Achievement Award. Charles May of the Moultrie Police Department won the first place award for Firearms. He also served as president of the class. Jason Armstrong of the Albany Police Department won second place for academics. Russell Severns of the Valdosta State University (VSU) Department of Public Safety received the second place award for firearms.
Dr. Gary Roberts, retired professor in the Division of Social Science at ABAC, served as guest speaker at the graduation ceremony.
Other graduates included Kevin Clark of the Dougherty County Sheriff's's Office; Derek Duncan and Sandra Ridenour of the VSU Department of Public Safety; Duane Fay, Joseph Messer, Thomas Mullen, Frank Pundavela, Charles Sheard, and Wesley Williams of the Albany Police Department; Shane Gosa of Americus, who was sponsored by the Oglethorpe Police Department; Daniel Hesters of the Remerton Police Department; Bradley Lambert of the Decatur County Sheriff's's Office; Amos Prince of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office; and Rudolph Robinson of the Adel Police Department.
The Regional Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
