Dr. John Galyean, Director of Theatre and ABAC's Baldwin Players, said he is very excited about producing both shows, but the real challenge for both the actors and the audience will be Beckett's Endgame.
"If the audience expects a linear, cause-to-effect plot, totally recognizable characters, and well-defined dramatic environments, they should brace themselves for a jolt and keep open minds," Galyean said. "This play is a great experiment. Beckett has been lumped into the movement called 'The Theatre of the Absurd,' for lack of a better term. He actually defies any classification. What Beckett does signify is a bold departure and a challenge to all preconceived notions about theatre, art, and life. I invite everyone with the least bit of interest to come see the works of two of the world's most noted postmodern playwrights and to be challenged as audience members."
Killer's Head will feature three performers, one each night of the production, each playing a character named "Mazon." The actors include Lynn Nichols, an ABAC student from Enigma, Zachary Hurst, a Tiftarea Academy/ABAC student from Sylvester, and Danielle Hicks, a Tiftarea Academy student from Ocilla.
The cast of Endgame consists of Dr. John Settimi, Assistant Professor in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources, who will play Hamm; Alan Foster, an ABAC student from Fitzgerald, who will play Clov; Dr. Doug Waid, Associate Professor in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources, who will play Nagg; and Rebecca Canaday, an ABAC student from Moultrie, who plays Nell.
