ABAC WELCOMES NEW FACULTY AND STAFF

          Twenty-six new faculty and staff members have joined Abraham Baldwin College for the start of the fall semester. In addition, several ABAC faculty and staff members have changed positions within the college.

          The Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation welcomes Julie Conner, Robert Moore, Herb Hendrix, and Margaret Treadway.

          Conner, Instructor of Physical Education and the women's basketball coach, is a native of Tift County but comes to ABAC from a high school teaching and coaching position in LaBelle, Fla. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Health and Physical Education from Georgia College.

          Moore, Instructor of Physical Education and the men's basketball coach, received his B.S. degree in Business and Health and Physical Education from Milligan College and his M.A. degree in Education from Columbus State University. He is a native of Columbus.

          Hendrix, Temporary Full-Time Instructor of Health and Physical Education, is from Tifton. He received his B.S. degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Georgia State University.

          Treadway, Temporary Part-Time Assistant Tennis Coach, received her B.S. degree in Mathematics/Physical Education from Carson Newman College and her M.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee. She is a native of Cartersville.

          Erin Campbell and Donna M. Hatcher have joined the faculty in the Division of Humanities.

          Campbell, who served as part-time instructor last year, will return this year as Full-Time Temporary Instructor of English. Campbell received her B.A. degree in English from the University of Tampa and her M.A. degree in English from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. A native of Clearwater, Fla., she is currently completing her dissertation for the Ph.D. in English at the University of Mississippi.

          Hatcher, Full-Time Temporary Instructor of Art, received her BFA in Art from the University of Georgia and her MFA in Art from Cornell University. She is a native of Baconton.

          The Division of Nursing welcomes David R. Atkins and Brenda Hamilton-Anderson.

          Atkins, Full-Time Lab Assistant, is a native of Tifton. He received his B.S. degree in Nursing from Valdosta State University.

          Hamilton-Anderson, Full-Time Assistant, received her B.S. degree in Nursing from Valdosta State University. She is a native of Tifton.

          Paul D. Foote, Susan Johnson, Dr. John Dunn, Sue Wilson, and Dr. Joseph Njorogehave joined the Division of Social Science.

          Foote, Instructor of Political Science, is a native of Riverdale. He holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from Westchester University and an M.A. degree in Political Science from Villanova University.

          Johnson, Instructor of Psychology, comes to ABAC from Jekyll Island. She holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and an M.S. degree in Clinical Psychology/Counseling from Valdosta State University.

          Dunn, Assistant Professor of History, is a native of Valdosta. He received his M.A. degree and his Ph.D. in History from Florida State University.

          Wilson, Assistant Professor of Education, holds an M.S. degree from Colorado State University and a Ed.S. degree in Education from Valdosta State University. She is a native of Tifton.

          Njoroge, Assistant Professor of Political Science, comes to ABAC from Valdosta State University. He received his M.A. degree in Political Science from Eastern Kentucky and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Tennessee.

          Dr. Glen W. Maul and Dr. Gwendolyn Jones have joined the South Georgia Regional Education Consortium (SGREC) faculty in Valdosta. ABAC offers classes for freshmen students through the SGREC at Valdosta State University.

          Maul, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Psychology, received his M.A. degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College and his Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University.

          Jones, Assistant Professor of English, holds an M.A. degree in English from the University of South Alabama and a Ph.D. in English from Florida State University. She is a native of Thomasville.

          The Baldwin Library welcomes Mary Jane Rootes and Sheryl B. Guarnieri.

          Rootes, Assistant Librarian/Assistant Professor for Public Services, comes to ABAC from Andrew College in Cuthbert. She received her B.A. degree in Philosophy and her Master of Library Information Studies from Georgia State University. She is currently in the final stage of completing the M.A. in Philosophy from Georgia State University.

          Guarnieri, the new Part-Time Library Assistant, attended ABAC for two years. She is from Leesburg.

          Cynthia Aycock, Cathy Newton, and Annie Sims have joined ABAC Student Services.

          Aycock, Director of Chandler Hall, is an alumna of ABAC and a former resident of Chandler Hall. A native of Douglas, she received her Bachelor's degree from Valdosta State University. Newton is one of the new LPNs in the E.L. Evans Health Center. A native of Blairsville, she now resides in Norman Park.

          Sims, the new Career and Personal Counselor, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She received a B.S. degree in Psychology from Albany State University and an M.S. degree in Community Counseling from Columbus State University. She is a native of Worth County.

          Debra McCrary is the new Office Manager for the Public Service and Business Outreach Center. She is a native of Tifton.

          Fiscal Affairs welcomes Jim Folds, Kristi Abad, Israel Johnson, Danny Hayes, and B. J. Smith.

          Folds, the new Director of the Physical Plant, is a native of Americus. He holds a B.S. in Aviation Management from Auburn University.

          Abad, a native of Ithaca, N.Y., is the new Office Manager at the Physical Plant. She holds an Associate degree in General Business from ABAC and is a licensed real estate salesperson.

          Johnson and Hayes are new Public Safety Officers.

          Smith, Director of ARAMARK, attended Valdosta State University and received her B.S. degree in Education from the University of Guam. She is a native of Hahira.

          Position changes at ABAC effective fall semester include the following:

          Dr. Homer A. Day will serve as Interim President for the upcoming year. He has been at ABAC since 1972.

          Andrea Willis is the new Interim Chair of the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. She joined the ABAC faculty in 1974.

          Alan Kramer is the new Interim Athletic Director at ABAC. He joined the ABAC faculty in 1993.

          Dr. Erin O'Neill is the new division chair in the Division of Humanities. She joined the ABAC faculty in 1998.

          Yolanda Emery has returned to the Division of Humanities as Instructor of Spanish. She served as the Director of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) last year. She has been at ABAC since 1998.

          Sharry Sackor has returned from educational leave and will resume her duties as Assistant Professor of Learning Support and Humanities. She joined the ABAC faculty in 1992.

          Angie Palmer is the new Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs. She joined the ABAC staff as the Program Coordinator in the Public Service and Business Outreach Center in 1998.

          Kay Powell is the Interim Director for ABAC on the Square in Moultrie. An Assistant Professor in the Division of Business Administration, she joined the ABAC faculty in

1998.

          Marsha Anderson will serve as PREP Program Coordinator, MAP Assistant, Student Support Unit Manager, Transfer Coordinator, and Part-Time Director for Mitchell Hall.

          Wasdon Graydon and Bertha Daniel will share the duties of Director of College

Services for the upcoming year as unit heads. Graydon joined the ABAC staff in 1973. Daniel joined the ABAC faculty in the Division of Social Science in 1991.

          Katrina Williams, former residence hall director, is now the Assistant Director for the Public Service and Business Outreach Center. She received a B.A. degree in Psychology and an M.S. degree in Wellness from the University of Mississippi.

          Rocio Cardenas is now the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Director. She received her B.A. degree in Social Science and History from Sacramento State University.
