FALL SEMESTER SHOWS RISE IN ABAC ENROLLMENT

Figures recently released by the Registrar's Office at Abraham Baldwin College show a fall semester enrollment of 2,630 students, an increase of 0.8 percent over fall semester 1999.

"While this increase is small, it represents a bit of a rebound from the enrollment drop experienced by nearly all of the schools in the University System of Georgia," Dr. Bettie Horne, Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, said. "Even better news is that students have begun to move a little closer to a fuller load of courses."

The recent report reflects an almost even division in gender at the college, with female enrollment at 49.7 percent. A total of 94 percent of ABAC students are Georgia residents. During the fall semester, 34 international students are enrolled, in addition to 116 students from states other than Georgia.

"This diversity helps give ABAC a little more of the flavor of a well-rounded college," Horne said. "Our out-of-state and international students enrich us with their often unique points of view."

Applications are now being accepted for the spring semester at ABAC, which begins Jan. 8. For additional information, contact the Admissions Office at 1-800-733-3653 or log on to the web site at http://www.abac.edu.
