ABAC AMBASSADORS SELECTED FOR 2000-2001

          Eighteen students at Abraham Baldwin College have been selected to participate in one of the most prestigious organizations on campus, the ABAC Ambassadors.

          Students serving as Ambassadors include Jessica Bowden of Cataula, a sophomore majoring in agricultural management technology; Shanna Boyett of Reidsville, a freshman majoring in agrimarketing; Tiffany Chaney of Fitzgerald, a freshman early childhood education major; David Chason of Tifton, a freshman majoring in pre-med; Ana Contreras of Willacoochee, a freshman majoring in business; Gregory Ellis of Chatsworth, a freshman agribusiness major; Joanna Griffin of Lenox, a freshman majoring in pre-law; Ben Kennedy of Reidsville, a freshman agricultural education major; and Elizabeth Martin of Tifton, a freshman majoring in family and consumer science/nutrition.

          Also serving as ABAC Ambassadors are Bo Moore of Tifton, a sophomore journalism major; Claudea Paul of Douglas, a freshman majoring in biology; Mary Jane Snow of Tifton, a freshman undeclared major; Kane Staines of Ray City, a freshman majoring in agribusiness;Hal Darsey of Lakeland, a sophomore majoring in agricultural education; Ashli Metts of Alapaha, a sophomore majoring in animal science; Floyd Moon of Tifton, a sophomore business administration major; Carl Stalvey of Ray City, a sophomore majoring in agricultural engineering; and Erin Unger of Plains, a sophomore undeclared major.

          Metts serves as president; Moore, vice-president; Griffin, secretary; and Moon, treasurer of the organization.

          Through a process involving application, letters of recommendation, and interviews, college administrators choose students whom they believe to be motivated and who show leadership potential to serve as Ambassadors during the student's program of study.

          The Ambassadors assist the offices of public relations and admissions, representing and promoting the college at a variety of community and college events. They work to maintain positive relationships between students, faculty, alumni, and the community.

          To continue in the organization, students must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and commit at least 30 hours per semester to their service as Ambassadors.
