Half Court for $100.
Model Classroom in Use
In an effort to meet the ever-changing
advancements in technology, ABAC has implemented an initiative to create model
classrooms on campus. Classes will be conducted by faculty members in the
Division of Social Science this fall in ABAC’s very first model classroom, Room
213 Bowen Hall. In the future, every division on campus will have access to a
model classroom.
Each model classroom will utilize an
instructional presentation center, which is a multimedia lectern that houses
all of the most up-to-date, technologically-based instructional hardware,
including the following: a PC, CD/DVD drive, VCR access, remote mouse, document
camera--which allows the display of transparencies, 3D objects, texts, and
more--projection screens (five feet in width), and
connectivity to Local
Area Network (LAN) and the Internet. All visual output will be provided by a
mounted ceiling projector, eliminating the need for additional television
monitors.

Note of Thanks
Thank you for your cards, thoughts, and
prayers during this difficult time following my mother’s death. The ABAC Family is truly a special one, and I
am honored to be a part of it. The plant
that was delivered to my home is beautiful and will be a constant reminder of
my mother, and how special she was.

First ABAC Student
Earns BASIT
Jim Edens of Tifton is the first student at
ABAC to earn the Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology (BASIT)
degree offered through Valdosta State University. He completed the program this
summer.
The BASIT program, which began in the fall
of 2000 through the Intellectual Capital Partnership Program (ICAPP) funding,
allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at ABAC
by taking on-line classes offered by VSU.
The program provides technical and
managerial skills in computer technologies that will prepare a graduate for the
job market. Topics of study include web
programming, Visual Basic (VB) programming, Microsoft Office automation,
project management, and Microsoft operating systems and networks. The BASIT program also prepares student to
earn the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification.
Edens, who is the Human Resources Director
for the City of Tifton, is also involved with telecommunications, City Net, and
web application development. He said the
BASIT degree has really helped him in his current position, and he is already
putting the programming skills he learned to good use.
