Dorm Drive Open

Dormitory Drive will remain open for at least three more weeks, according to Physical Plant Director Jim Folds.  He said Lavender Associates will be handling the construction on the Pedestrian Mall which will eventually close Dormitory Drive.  At the present time, the road will be open until at least mid-September.

Folds also said two overflow parking lots for students have been established, one near the water tower and the other near Chandler Hall.

Changes by Tuesday

If you have changes to the Detailed Calendar for the 2002-03 year, please turn them in to Caren Bierbaum in the Registrar’s Office by Tuesday.  If you have changes to committee assignments, please email them to Dr. Caroline Helms by Tuesday.

Dining Hall on Sunday

ABAC students have requested that the Donaldson Dining Hall stay open longer hours on Sunday.  As a result, the dining hall will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sundays this fall.  Dining Hall Director B.J. Smith said the dining hall will serve from its regular food stations.  A brunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. during that time period.  The cost for ABAC faculty and staff members and their families is $5.  The Snack Bar will not be open on Sunday.

Ambassadors Needed

If you know of students who would be great candidates for the ABAC Ambassadors program, please send them to the Public Relations Office on the second floor of Tift Hall.  The deadline for Ambassador applications is noon on Aug. 27.  Call 3264 for more information.

Could It Be 3,000?

President Mike Vollmer said the numbers for the fall semester look to be very, very strong.  The college should easily experience another alltime enrollment high, surpassing the 2,857 students enrolled last fall.

Notes of Thanks

I would like to thank the great people at ABAC for the cards, thoughts, and other expressions of concern I received concerning the loss of my mother.  She was a great lady and had a long and active life.  Dealing with her loss will be difficult, however the kindness of the ABAC Family will make it easier. Thanks again for your concern.                                 Jeff Gibbs & Family

Dear ABAC Family,

Thank you for the balloons that you sent Conner after his surgery.  He thoroughly enjoyed playing with them.  I am so blessed to work with such kind, considerate people.                           Kip Smith

Thank you all for your thoughts and concerns with regard to my step-mother’s surgery and biopsy.  I am extremely happy to report that her biopsy came back clear and the suspicious spots are benign.  Thanks again, ABAC, for your support.

                                                Katie Harrison
