Auditions are open to ABAC faculty, staff, and students as well as everyone in the community. No previous experience in theatre is necessary, and everyone is encouraged to audition.
Written by noted Broadway playwright A. R. Gurney, Sylvia is a comedy involving a married couple who is drifting apart. The husband discovers a stray dog named Sylvia and seems to fall in love with it almost immediately. He and the loveable poodle mix have no trouble communicating with each other, but his wife feels Sylvia is a rival for affection.

Deadline for Ireland & Scotland Trip
It is not too late to sign up for the trip to Ireland and Scotland offered by ABAC's Public Service and Business Outreach Center (PSBOC) this summer.
PSBOC Director Diane Kilgore said there is still space, but the deadline is approaching fast. A $95 non-refundable deposit will reserve a space on the trip. Full payment is due by March 10. The cost is approximately $2,800 per person. This figure is based on double occupancy/Atlanta departure.
The 12-day visit to Ireland and Scotland is a tour package designed by Cultural Heritage Alliance (CHA) Educational Tours. Projected dates of the trip are May 26 - June 6, 2002. SDU credit is available.
During their stay, members of the travel group will visit several famous places and landmarks, including Killarney National Park's Muckross House, Blarney Castle, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College, Wordsworth's Dove Cottage, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Blair Castle, Dunvegan Castle, Stirling Castle, and Glasglow Cathedral.
The price for the trip covers round-trip air transportation, 10 nights' accommodations in selected three and four star hotels, full-time services of a professional, multi-lingual tour director, all on-tour transportation services, breakfast and dinner daily, guided city sightseeing tours, and walking tours as per itinerary.
We're very excited about returning to Ireland," Kilgore said. "The Irish are warm and friendly people, and it is such a beautiful country. This will be our first trip to Scotland, but everyone who has ever been there says it's a wonderful place to visit. Anyone who has ever dreamed of going to Europe, but has reservations about traveling alone, should seriously consider taking this trip with a group of friends."
For more information about the trip or for an application, call Kilgore at 386 - 3267.
In addition to a previous trip to Ireland and England, other ABAC trips included visits to Italy
and London, Paris, and the Alps. Last summer, ABAC sponsored a journey to Greece and the
Greek islands.
World AIDS Day Events
Thanks to the ABAC community for helping make the World AIDS Day events a success. Over $300 was raised to help two local families, a total of nine people, who are living with HIV. Food boxes, fruit baskets, clothes, and toys were bought with the collected money. Your contributions helped make better holidays for these families.
At the Dance for Life on Nov. 30, the Consumer Advisory Board presented the Angel of Hope
Award to Tammy Groover for her dedication to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Note of Thanks
Thanks to each and every one of the ABAC Family for the cards, flowers, calls, and other expressions of sympathy during the four years of illness and loss of our daughter, Jenny. It hurts us all to lose a loved one, but knowing others care and share our sorrow helps to make it easier.
Thanks again,
Sarah & Vondell Willis
Thank you for the cards and flowers that were sent for our family for my mother during her surgery. At times like this it's nice to know there are people who care.
Sincerely,
Louise Foote
To my Tift Hall family,
You did it again! You made my Christmas special. Thanks to all of you for the fantastic present. And thank you Dr. Bettie Horne, Mrs. Caroline Black, and Mrs. Jennifer Murphy for the extra special attention. You all are the best.
The Tift Hall Christmas party was terrific, and the food was out of sight! I'm glad President Vollmer had a warmer reception than I did, after being scared to death by "The Thing."
I love everyone. God bless in the year 2002 and, of course, God bless America!
Love,
Fran Kester (AKA Tiny)
Note of Sympathy
The ABAC Family expresses sympathy to Abul Sheikh whose mother passed away on Jan. 12
in Bangladesh. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
