Dormitory Drive to
Close
Dormitory Drive
will close forever on Thursday so the beginning of that part of the Pedestrian
Mall can begin. At some point in the
future, there will be a few parking spaces for Science and Mathematics faculty
when the Pedestrian Mall is complete.
Beginning Thursday, all persons who park on a regular basis on Dormitory
Drive will park in their previously assigned spaces in the Dining Hall
lot. Please be very careful in this
area. Trucks and tractors will be much
in evidence.
Check your
Construction Zone Update on the ABAC website to find out more details of the
closing of Dormitory Drive and other construction around the campus.

Faculty/Staff Wins
Again
For the third
year in a row, the faculty/staff of ABAC triumphed over the students in the
annual basketball contest in Gressette Gym.
Coach Robert Moore led the old timers to a 44-41 victory over the
students. Bernice Hughes and the Housing
Office provided many fun events, including games, DVD giveaways, and even a
couch potato shoot out. It was lots of
fun. The Stallions and Fillies are now
practicing on a daily basis getting ready for their season openers. The Stallions open at home against Martinique
on Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. The Fillies first home game is on Nov. 25
against North Florida.
ABAC Goes to Expo
ABAC will be
flying the green and gold flag at next week’s Sunbelt Ag Expo at Spence Field
near Moultrie. The event is scheduled
for Oct. 15-17. The ABAC Building will
be home to the ABAC Jazz Band on Tuesday, the ABAC Jazz Choir on Wednesday, and
the Sabor Latino Dancers on Thursday.
There will also be plenty of information from admissions, financial aid,
alumni, and much, much more.

Notes of Thanks
Dear ABAC Faculty & Staff,
My sincere
thanks go to each of you for the beautiful “get well” plant. It certainly brightened my days at home, as
did the many cards and notes. You’re a
dear group of people, and I thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Andrea
Willis
ABAC Faculty & Staff,
Thank you for showing God’s love during this difficult
time in my life. The beautiful
arrangement of flowers at my mom’s funeral let me know you care. Also the cards with words of encouragement
were greatly appreciated. Again, thanks for showing your concern in numerous
ways.
Sincerely,
Brenda
Youmans

establishment of the Mara Guadalupe Cervantes Memorial Scholarship.
The endowed scholarship will be awarded
annually to a student of Hispanic descent who attends ABAC, is a Georgia

a committee consisting of the following members: Luz R. Marti, founder and chairperson of La
Fiesta del Pueblo; Yolanda Emery and Diana Mendieta (representing La Fiesta del
Pueblo); Antonio Cervantes Soto, Rosana Cervantes, Roberto Delgado Soto, and
Petra Soto Ruiz (Cervantes family members); and one representative from the

Foundation President Melvin Merrill said it
takes a minimum of $10,000 to create an endowed scholarship. The money used to fund the scholarship comes
from earnings generated by the invested $10,000.
The scholarship was created by family

(Cervantes’ brothers); Rosana Cervantes (Cervantes’ sister-in-law); Father Juan
