Whitney Mitchell, a freshman Agricultural Education major from Nashville,
knows why Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is Georgia’s State College of
Choice.
“ABAC is a great place, I truly feel that it is my home
away from home,” Mitchell said. “ABAC has so much to offer the students, and
I feel the best way to stay on top of my academics is to get involved in the
various campus activities.”
She served as a State FFA Vice-President for the Georgia FFA Association
from April 2008 until just a few months ago.
Throughout her year of service, Mitchell has represented over 28,000 FFA
members in the State of Georgia. Some of her responsibilities include
serving as a delegate at the National FFA Convention, hosting several
in-state conferences for FFA members to learn about leadership and FFA, and
providing key assistance at the State FFA Convention.
“The entire campus of ABAC is beautiful, especially the residence halls,”
Mitchell said. “I think living on campus is a great opportunity to meet new
people, my three roommates have become my new best friends, and I had never
met them before moving into ABAC Place.”
Mitchell is also a member of the Collegiate FFA and Team Sunshine intramural
softball team. She enjoys playing softball and hanging out with her
roommates in the ABAC place Apartments.
She plans to transfer to the UGA Tifton campus to complete her degree in
Agricultural Education so she can teach high school Agriculture somewhere in
south Georgia.
