Amelia Gutierrez, a Journalism major from Clewiston, Fla., looks forward
to a great year as managing editor for the award winning Stallion newspaper.
“I love having the opportunity to have intellectual
conversation with my professors,” Gutierrez said when asked of her favorite
thing at ABAC. “There is nothing better than having a conversation with an
educator who is an expert on the subject, and I just do not feel I would
have had this opportunity at the university level.”
Gutierrez enjoyed her term as news editor for the Stallion last
year, and has returned to be the managing editor for the 2009 school year.
In addition to her work with the newspaper she plays for the Fillies tennis
team while keeping up her studies as a member of the Honors Program.
“Working with The Stallion has assured me that this is the career
path I want to follow,” Gutierrez said.
She plans to finish her studies at ABAC, and then pursue a
bachelor’s degree in Journalism at a university.
Gutierrez’s favorite quote is “Just don’t give up trying to do what
you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think
you can go wrong” by Ella Fitzgerald.
